For the search engine to be able to show the content of your website you need keywords. The term keyword can also refer to words and phrases not just singular. People enter these keywords into a search engine so they may find the most relevant information that the person requires.

Keyword benefits include engaged audience, increased conversion marketing trend insight, being able to prioritize your time properly, and expand on your long tail efforts.

As long as you place them in the correct area, it is agreed upon those keywords are the most important part of your digital marketing plan.

So how do you go about finding keywords?

My favorite method begins with a listing all the words that have even the slight as bit of relevancy to the niche I plan to write in. Its usually a brain dump of at least 25-50 words.

I then take those keywords and go to my favorite keyword tool, google keyword planner. There I can check the MSV, monthly search volume and the competition.

The more times a keyword is searched the more opportunity you have to get organic traffic. This is just the beginning of keyword research. Knowing what the most searched keywords are is beneficial and you can plan accordingly.

As an example of the most searched words for online marketing I give you this list:

You will also want to recognize the language that people are using to search for helpful information.

A Seed keyword is a short tail keyword most often with one or two words. These short tail seed keywords tend to have a monthly search volume that is high competion. While short tail might have modifiers, seed keywords do not.

Modifer words are in combination with your main keyword, this will create your long tail keywords. Long tail keywords are important because they will have high conversion value and are more specific to your audiences search. Providing content that your audience wants is how you can get repeat traffic from that audience.

The over all process to finding your seed keywords will look like this,

  4. Factor in your SERP features when you are choosing keywords

What is SERP?

SERP stands for search engine results page, this is used to show the response to a person’s query. SERP will also decide what your site looks like on googles first page. To do a SERP analysis and that begins with these steps
